Burnt Orange Agate Slice Cabinet Knobs
About the Agate
Burnt orange agate is the warmest stone in the range. The color sits between rust and amber, laid down in bands that go from near-red at their densest to a pale cream where the layer thinned out. Fine dark lines mark the boundary between one band and the next.
This is where agate translucency shows best. A thin edge held toward a window lights up like a shard of glass, and even on a cabinet door the stone picks up whatever light falls across it and carries it a short way in. Under a warm bulb the orange deepens; in daylight it reads closer to terracotta.
How It’s Made
Each pull is a single stone cut and finished one piece at a time, which is why no two come out the same width. The outer edge is grown over in thick metallic gold: the metal is electroformed, real metal grown onto the stone and permanently bonded rather than a leaf or coating that can rub off. The rim carries the threaded fitting on the back.
Details
- Material: natural burnt orange agate with copper and brass fittings
- Width: 1.5" to 2.5"
- Projection: 1" clear of the door
- Bolt: 1.75", which can be trimmed to size
- Edges can be done in gold, silver or rose gold.
Because the stone is worked by hand, the outline, the width and the balance of orange to cream all differ from knob to knob.
Fit and Installation
Made for drawers, cupboard doors and wardrobes, mounting through one hole with no additional hardware required. Trim the bolt if the door is thin. Tighten the bolt with care rather than over-torquing it.
Care
A soft dry cloth is all this needs. Avoid household cleaners and polishes on the gold edge and on the stone.
