Panamor — Blossom Round Wool Rug in Burgundy, Rose & Black

Panamor puts a blossoming branch on a night sky. Grey-brown boughs reach across the circle and break into clusters of open flowers — cream and dusty rose at the edges, deepening to burgundy at the centre of each bloom, with occasional flashes of hot magenta where a petal catches the light.

The black ground does two things: it makes every pale petal glow, and it gives the branches somewhere to disappear into, so the flowers appear to hang in space rather than sit on a background. A hand-tufted round rug with real depth to it.

Hand Tufted in Bhadohi, India

Every Panamor rug is handcrafted in our own workshop in Bhadohi, in the heart of India's carpet belt. Artisans hand-tuft 100% New Zealand wool into a cotton canvas backing using a hand-held tufting gun, then carve every petal edge by hand.

Each blossom is built from four or five tones layered over one another, and the petal edges are carved soft rather than sharp so the flowers keep their painted quality. On a pattern this dense that means hundreds of individually finished flowers — and because nothing repeats, no two are cut the same way.

New Zealand wool is used for a reason — it is naturally springy, stain-resistant, flame-retardant and holds dye brilliantly, which is what lets a cream petal stay clean and bright directly against black.

Seven round diameters: 3 Feet, 4 Feet, 5 Feet, 6 Feet, 8 Feet, 10 Feet and 12 Feet.

• 3–4 ft — entryways, bedsides, reading nooks, under a small side table
• 5–6 ft — coffee table anchor, nursery, home office chair zone
• 8 ft — the most popular living room size; front legs of the sofa sit on the rug
• 10–12 ft — large open-plan living rooms and round dining tables, with chairs staying on the rug when pulled out

The blossom runs edge to edge with no centre motif, so nothing important is lost under furniture at any size and the rug has no wrong orientation.

Styling Notes

Panamor is dark and romantic rather than loud. It works beautifully in a bedroom, a dining room or a panelled study, and is exceptional against dark walls where the black ground merges into the room and the blossom seems to float. Pair it with cream or grey upholstery, walnut and rosewood, brass and smoked glass. The burgundy gives you a rich accent for velvet cushions; the cream keeps it from feeling heavy.

Care Instructions

• Dry clean only — do not machine wash, soak or steam clean
• Vacuum regularly without a beater bar; use suction only on cut pile
• Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth — never rub; act fast on the cream petals
• Easy to clean: the dense wool pile releases dust and dirt with routine vacuuming
• Shedding is normal on a new wool rug for the first few weeks and settles with vacuuming
• Trim any sprouting tufts with scissors — never pull them
• Rotate every 6 months for even wear and consistent light exposure
• Use an anti-slip rug pad underneath to stop movement and extend the life of the pile
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading on the rose and burgundy
• Air the rug outdoors in shade occasionally to refresh the wool
