About the Agate

White crystal agate is agate whose central cavity never fully closed. Silica lined the hollow in bands, then the last of it grew inward as small quartz crystals, so where a slab is cut through that void it opens a rough, sparkling pocket in the middle of a smooth polished field.

Around the pocket the stone is banded in white, cream and clear gray. The contrast between glassy crystal points and the flat polish beside them is what sets this apart from plain white agate.

How It’s Made

The top is cut round but the edge is left as the stone broke, so the circle is loose and the rim changes height as it travels. Electroformed metal is grown onto that raw edge in a bath until it stands as metal with its own thickness, bonded to the agate and not applied over it. The legs are electroformed in the matching finish. Gold picks up the light in the crystal pocket, silver keeps the piece cool, rose gold warms it slightly.

Slight variation in natural stone will occur. The size and placement of any crystal pocket depend entirely on the slab, and no two are alike.

Assembly

The legs are removable and the table is easily assembled on delivery. The top ships flat with the legs packed apart; the legs fix to its underside and come away again for flat storage.

Care

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Soak up liquid immediately with a paper towel and wipe dry to avoid staining, and do not use chemical cleaners on the stone.
