Green Agate Side Table, Round Top
About the Agate
The green in agate comes from trace minerals caught in the silica as it set, and the shade depends on how much of them the water carried. A slab can hold forest green against a chalk-white line, or run through several tones of sage in the space of an inch.
Cut to a circle, the bands become rings, and their centers rarely land in the middle of the top. That off-center pattern is the clearest sign the stone was cut from a real pocket rather than made to a drawing.
How It’s Made
The slab is trimmed to a true round and taken to an inch thick, with the face and the cut edge polished so the rings read clearly. Metal is electroformed around the rim, grown onto the stone bath by bath until it carries real thickness and bonds to the stone permanently, never a leaf or coating laid over the top. The legs are electroformed to the same finish. Silver keeps the green cold, gold warms it toward olive, and rose gold gives the quietest contrast of the three.
