Green Agate Side Table, 10" x 15" Organic Edge
About the Agate
Agate is a banded chalcedony that forms in layers inside a cavity in volcanic rock. This slab reads green, its bands running parallel to the old cavity wall in narrow lines of deeper and paler color.
Near a lamp the thinner layers turn translucent and light travels a short way in. The polished face is glassy; the rim keeps the rough profile the stone had while it was still in the rock.
How It’s Made
One piece of green agate is cut, then ground and polished flat, with the outline left as the stone formed it. The edge is electroformed: metal grown onto the rim in thin layers until it has real thickness and is bonded to the stone itself.
The legs are electroformed metal in the same finish. Silver sharpens the banding, gold warms the yellower layers, and rose gold sits between them.

A Gift For
A side table is a housewarming present that gets used daily, and this one suits a first apartment or a new house. It also reads as a wedding or engagement gift, and works for an anniversary.
Care
Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Soak up any spill with a paper towel straight away and wipe dry to avoid staining, and keep chemical cleaners off the stone.
