Black Galaxy - Granite Cheese Platter/Tray

A serving board cut from a single piece of black granite, 11"x7", edged all round in a thick band of metal. Big enough for a cheese course with the crackers beside it.

The face is near black and polished to a hard gloss, so it reads almost plain from a step away; close up there are small pale speckles scattered through it. The metal edge is the feature here, a thick band all the way round.

Size and Materials

• Stone: black granite, near black and glossy
• Face: one piece of stone
• Outline: worked by hand, rounded with flat segments
• Size: 11"x7"
• Metal edge: thick
• Finish: Gold, Silver or Rose Gold

Every piece uses natural stone, so slight variation in color, marking, shape and size will occur.

Using It

Cheese and crackers, charcuterie, fruit, chocolate. Stone stays cool, which helps a soft cheese hold its shape on a warm afternoon. Cut on a separate board rather than on the stone, so a knife does not leave a line in the polish. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Never the dishwasher. The metal edge will not wear through at the corners the way a plated finish does.

A Good Gift For

A housewarming or a holiday gift, and it suits a dark kitchen or a bar cart.
